With November fast approaching, I believe that it is time to both mentally and physically prepare for Taylor Swift’s re-release of her fourth album, Red. The date is scheduled for Nov. 19 and I cannot wait any longer!
Red (Taylor’s Version) will become her second re-release of her old albums. The first re-release, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), was released on April 9. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) included all of the original 20 songs from Fearless, as well as six new songs which included (From The Vault) songs that were written during the original album, but were never released. (You can buy the album here.)
For those of you who are confused as to why she is re-releasing her albums, please let me briefly inform you on “the tea.” To oversimplify things, Taylor’s old contract stated that her record company would have complete control over her first six albums, and when the company was acquired by Scooter Braun, there arose tension between Braun and Swift. Since Taylor cannot own the original copies of her music, she has decided to re-release her earlier albums to gain mastery over her songs. (Read more on the Scooter and Taylor drama here.)
Her new releases feature her re-recorded voice which sounds older and more mature, which is detectable for your average swifty. Furthermore, since she has ownership of the album, she has decided to release all of the songs that were written, but not released, during the time of that album. For example, when she released Fearless (Taylor’s Version), she also included the beautiful song “Mr. Perfectly Fine (From The Vault)”.
Excitingly, it has been revealed that Red (Taylor’s Version) will contain 30 songs, which should include 9 new songs! Moreover, Taylor has publicly revealed that one of the songs, All Too Well, a five minute and 28 second long song, will be released in its original version, which is 10 minutes long. 10 minutes of pure joy!
I am so excited to listen to this new-ish album, and I cannot wait for Nov. 19 to finally roll around the corner! You can pre-order her album here, or pre-order the official “clean” album here if you listen to these songs with your younger siblings.
