Women are beautiful beings who are often told every single day that they are not enough. They are too skinny, too fat, too short, too tall. "You need to wear more makeup", "you're not wearing enough makeup". Why are you so dressed up? Why do you look like you just rolled out of bed?
Society always questions women's looks and tells them that they have to try harder or that they are trying too hard. When will society ever be satisfied with all the beauty that women have to offer?
Today's beauty standards are very UNREALISTIC.
"Arguably, today’s beauty standards say that women are expected to wear makeup in their daily lives, work out at the gym, stay skinny with curves in the right places, and be young," said Brightside Magazine.
"The [beauty standards] make me sad because then I actually have to put the effort into what I look like in fear that people will judge me for looking like a homeless man", said senior Sarah Marmolejo.
For me, I know that I cannot just roll out of bed because people will judge me, but I feel like I get judged for just being my girly self. I enjoy wearing dresses and makeup, but people always ask why I dress too nicely. They tell me to dress "casual" but that is my "casual".
Women should not have to feel judged for being who they are. Women should be celebrated for their beauty. They should not be degraded because of how much makeup they do or don't wear, for the shape and size of their body, or for their facial features. These differences are what make us beautiful. These differences should be celebrated.
